I am Joe Tobiason. I am from Gig Harbor, WA. I attended Whitworth College/University (it changed my senior year). Currently I am a Young Adult Volunteer (YAV) in Lima, Peru. If you are reading this, you probably have some sort of personal connection to me and therefore I don´t need much more of an explanation of who I am. This blog is being written with the intention of both sharing my travel experiences and to be a place where I can debrief myself through what is going on during these trips. I hope there are people out there reading this, but if not, I´m ok with that and feel that I benefit from using this tool.
Just so you all know, the web address (thecentralamericanblender.blogspot.com) was a stupid idea that I had during finals week of my senior year of college. It was a couple weeks before I was to go off to Central America with the Central American Study Program and I knew I needed a blog. So, I realized that my life was going to change and through that C.A. was going to utterly change my life, like a blender would to just about anything. So I was proud of my creativity, well until I had to start typing and writing it everywhere and realized just how long the name was. But too much had happened and thus I apologize. After CASP, I changed the name to Thoughts and Experiences because that better describes what this blog is, but the good old web address gets to stay.
This blog covers:
Central America Study Program (1/08-5/08)
El Salvador/Honduras (1/09)
Life decisions (3/09-6/09)
YAV Peru (8/09-present)
